On June 9, 2026, Anthropic released Claude Fable 5 — its most powerful publicly available model yet (the first "Mythos-class" model, a tier above Claude Opus 4.8). It's a real step up at knowledge work, which is exactly what makes it feel less like a chatbot and more like a sharp new hire.

Three honest notes before you start:

• It's free for a short window, then it's not. Fable 5 is included on Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise plans from June 9 through June 22, 2026. On June 23 it comes off those plans, and using it after that needs usage credits.
• It's expensive to run. Fable costs roughly 2x Opus (about $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output) and will burn through your plan's limits faster. Great for the big thinking — you don't need it for everything.
• You don't actually need Fable for any of this. The system you're about to build is just folders and plain text files. It runs the same on Opus, Sonnet, or whatever ships next. Fable makes it feel sharper — but the brain is yours, and it's tool-agnostic. (Heads up: Fable has hard safety guardrails and will refuse certain topics, quietly falling back to Opus. Normal at launch.)
